Hanover Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Student Survey
As part of the district’s commitment to creating a culture that achieves the best developmental outcome for each student, the district administered the Hanover Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Survey to students in grades 3 -12 in December of 2017. According to research, mastering SEL competencies helps students succeed academically and socially, as reflected in “more positive social behaviors, fewer conduct problems, less emotional distress, and improved test scores and grades.” The Hanover SEL survey included around 70 questions separated into eleven categories (Web of Support, Culture, Self Determination, Wellness, Confidence, Compassion, Ethics, Social, Emotional Intelligence, Emotional Disposition, and Anxiety). Hanover has developed this survey for a small number of schools for the 2017-2018 school year. The SEL results are broken down by the eleven categories for the district and building level.
