New Albany - Plain Local Schools welcomes Mike King as the New Albany Intermediate School Assistant Principal. Mr. King will officially join the district on August 1, 2022, with additional summer work days to facilitate his transition. Mr. King will join Principal Megan Ballinger and Assistant Principal Jaime Slane on the Intermediate School's leadership team serving 1,100 students in grades 4, 5, and 6.
Mike King attended Ohio Northern University and received his Bachelor's degree in Social Studies and History Education. He earned a Master’s degree in International Relations: World History and Culture at Denver University in 2017 and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership at American College of Education in 2021.
He brings an array of leadership experience; most recently serving as a Dean of Students at Northridge High School where his roles included coordinating academic and behavioral interventions and implementing the Ohio State Test Restart Readiness Assessment system. Prior to his school leadership role, he served nine-years with the Northridge Local School District teaching American History where he received the county "You Make a Difference Award” in 2016 for his contributions to students. His teaching experience also includes serving as an adjunct College Credit Plus instructor and service as a head high school/middle school wrestling coach and assistant football coach.
Mike and his wife, Taylor, have two daughters. Annie (2 years old), and Ellie (8-weeks old). He is excited to serve the students, staff, and parents of New Albany Intermediate School
