Megan Ballinger Selected As New Albany Intermediate Assistant Principal

Photo of Megan Ballinger New Albany - Plain Local Schools welcomes Megan Ballinger as the New Albany Intermediate School Assistant Principal.  Mrs. Ballinger will officially join the district on August 1, 2018 with additional summer work days to facilitate her transition to the role of assistant principal at New Albany Intermediate School.  Mrs. Ballinger will replace Mrs. Kate Thoma who is leaving the school district to become an elementary principal in Big Walnut.

Mrs. Ballinger brings a range of leadership experience to the Assistant Principal position, having served in administrative roles at the middle and high school levels. She has focused on providing impactful educational opportunities to students under her influence as a teacher and administrator, having experience writing, implementing and monitoring curriculum rooted in inquiry-based learning. As a classroom teacher, Mrs. Ballinger taught English Language Arts and particularly loved sharing Shakespeare with her students. She currently serves as the Assistant Principal of Yorktown Middle School in Columbus City Schools.

Principal Nowak shared, “Having served in a variety of leadership roles as an instructional coach, dean of students, and currently as an assistant principal, Mrs. Ballinger has the experience and student-centered passion to support students, staff, and families at New Albany Intermediate School.  Through the interview process, Megan’s commitment to building positive culture and trusting relationships, experiences supporting students’ social-emotional needs, as well as her extensive curriculum and instructional background make her a wonderful addition to the intermediate leadership team.”

Mrs. Ballinger received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and her Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from The Ohio State University. Mrs. Ballinger resides in the New Albany area with her husband, Andrew, and their son, Henry.
