New Albany - Plain Local Schools welcomes Colleen Masters as the new Primary School Assistant Principal for the 2023-24 school year. Mrs. Masters will join the Primary School administrative team of Principal Teresa Smith and Assistant Principal Dr. Sara Peterson. Mrs. Masters will assume the role of current Assistant Principal Melissa Garris, who will become the principal of Thomas Elementary School for the Dublin City Schools.
Mrs. Masters brings a strong background in educational administration and knowledge of best practices as she joins the New Albany-Plain Local School District. She currently serves as the assistant principal at Sedalia Elementary School in the Groveport Madison school district.
Before becoming an assistant principal two years ago, Mrs. Masters taught for nine years as an intervention specialist and elementary classroom teacher. Her leadership skills and professional experience will be an extraordinary addition to the New Albany Primary School.
“Mrs. Masters will be an excellent addition to our primary school administrative team,” said Michael Sawyers, Superintendent. “She is a student-centered, experienced leader who believes in nurturing and developing some of our youngest learners in highly-engaging learning experiences.”
Mrs. Masters earned her master’s degree from The Ohio State University and her bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University. Mrs. Masters and her husband, Cody live in Granville with their two children.
Mrs. Masters stated, “I am excited to join the leadership team of New Albany Primary School; and am honored to have the opportunity to serve as Assistant Principal. I look forward to actively engaging with the New Albany staff, students, and community in a collaborative effort to ensure each and every student receives the most optimal and inspirational learning experiences!"
Mrs. Masters will officially join the district on August 1, 2023 with additional summer work days to facilitate her transition to the role of assistant principal at New Albany Primary School.
