The District invited Bruce Barcelo as the guest presenter for this important discussion that was held at New Albany Intermediate School.
Bruce Barcelo is a retired teacher, coach and principal but he has never really retired. Bruce is enthusiastic about recently becoming a Program Coordinator of the Prevention and Early Intervention Division of the Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction & Mental Health Services. He has taught at the University of Dayton and is currently teaching at Antioch Midwest University. He was the Healthy Lifestyle Supervisor at Public Health Dayton & Montgomery County. Bruce has been a two term chairperson of the Tobacco Free Ohio Alliance (TFOA).
Because of his efforts in helping Wright State University, Sinclair Community College, the City of Kettering Parks, the City of Oakwood Parks, Trotwood Parks, and all Metro Libraries, become tobacco-free along with RTA to become the first transit authority in the state of Ohio to make all bus stops tobacco-free, and his efforts in smoke-free housing, Bruce was the recipient of the Ohio Society for Public Heath’s “Outstanding Contributions to Health Education Award”, The Tobacco Free Ohio Alliance: “Ohio Community Advocacy Award” and Ohio’s “Healthcare Professional of the Year Award”.
