Advanced Placement Honor Roll
New Albany High School recently received recognition from the College Board for our Advanced Placement Results, earning a place on the AP School Honor Roll for the 2022-23 school year. New Albany High School achieved Gold Level Status on the AP Honor Roll as well as an AP Access Award for ensuring AP coursework is equally available to students, no matter their backgrounds. Schools earn this award if the percentage of AP Exam takers who are underrepresented minority and/or low-income students mirrors the school's overall student demographics.
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
The AP Honor Roll has three components.
College Culture: 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least 1 AP Exam during high school. NAPLS achieved Gold Level (2nd Highest Level), 70% of the class of 2023 experienced at least one AP Class; note- 80% is the threshold for Platinum.
College Credit: College Credit: 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least 1 AP Exam during high school. NAPLS achieved Platinum Level (Highest Level), at least 50% of the class of 2023 earned a score of 3 for college credit on at least one AP exam.
College Optimization: College Optimization: 2% or more of the graduating cohort took 5 or more AP Exams during high school. At least 1 of those exams was taken in 9th or 10th grade, so that students are spreading their AP experience across grades rather than feeling disproportionate pressure in any single year. NAPLS achieved Platinum Level (Highest Level), at least 15% of the class of 2023 took 5 or more AP classes across their high school years with at least one taken in 9th or 10th grade.
Last year NAHS had the highest number of students to ever participate in AP Exams (661 students).
And now, this year, NAHS currently has 737 students eligible to register for participation in 1486 AP exams, illustrating even more students than last year.
