The New Albany - Plain Local Schools welcomes two new leaders for its elementary school before and after school care program, Eagles Nest.

Ms. Cassie Koehler will serve as the Coordinator for School Age Child Care Programs beginning on October 2, 2023.  Ms. Koehler joins the New Albany Schools from the Grandview Heights school district, where she serves as the Assistant Director of School Age Child Care Programs.  

Ms. Koehler is a graduate of Ohio University.  Prior to her position with Grandview Heights, her work experiences included serving as a Family Programs Coordinator at the Columbus Museum of Art and as the Art Coordinator for PALS Chrysalis Health.

“Through the interview process, Cassie’s emphasis on strategies to create engaging programming, combined with her care for the overall well-being and success of elementary children, truly impressed the selection committee,” said Director of Elementary Education Scott Emery.

Ms. Koehler states, “I am both honored and delighted to be welcomed into the New Albany community, as I look forward to getting to know each and everyone of you! In my new role as Coordinator for School Age Child Care Programs, I will strive to provide a safe and enriching out of school experience that continues to serve the individual needs of each student.” 

Ms. Shelby Bauer will serve as the Assistant Coordinator for School Age Child Care Programs.  Ms. Bauer is a familiar face to the students and families in the Eagles Nest program where she serves in the roles of Interim Coordinator and Child Care Assistant.  Ms. Bauer is a graduate of Capital University and is currently taking graduate courses to earn an elementary teaching license.  Prior to working at Eagles Nest, Ms. Bauer has served as an English language instructor to students in Madrid and as a sales specialist for Apple.

“Shelby’s dedication to the Eagle’s Nest program is evident to all of us that work with her on a daily basis.  I am excited to see her transition to a permanent leadership position where our students can benefit from her work ethic and commitment,” said Director Emery.

Ms. Bauer states, “I am excited for this opportunity to serve the students in our Eagle’s Nest program and make their experiences before and after school as meaningful as their time in the classroom.”
