NAHS Theatre presents the classic Disney musical Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the beast promotional poster The New Albany High School Theatre Department is excited to present the classic Disney musical Beauty and the Beast as its fall production! We invite you and your family to be our guest for one of the performances at the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts on November 21st, November 22nd, and November 23rd.

Based on the hit 1991 animated film of the same name, "Beauty and the Beast" tells the story of Belle, a resourceful young woman living in a quiet French town. She dreams of adventure and love -- both subjects in her favorite books -- and knows in her heart that "there must be more than this provincial life." Belle also wants to escape the affections of Gaston, a narcissistic local hunter, who will stop at nothing to make her his wife. When Belle's inventor father, Maurice, turns up missing, she goes in search of him in the woods surrounding the town, eventually finding him held captive in the mysterious and enchanted castle of the Beast. In exchange for Maurice's freedom, Belle agrees to stay as a prisoner of the Beast, where she soon meets Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Chip, Babette, Madame de la Grande Bouche, and other members of his staff, all of whom have been transformed into objects as a part of the spell cast upon them years ago. To break the spell that has transformed him into a monster, the Beast must learn to love Belle and earn her love in return before the last petal drops from the magic Rose, or he will remain a beast forever. Will Belle fall in love with the Beast and break the spell cast upon the castle and all within it?

Beauty and the Beast celebrates the transformative power of love and reaffirms that we should treasure the beauty of the heart within. Relive the magic of the original story in this captivating theatrical production, which features all of the songs we know and love, including "Belle," "Be Our Guest," and "Beauty and the Beast," as well as new classics written specifically for the musical. Beauty and the Beast is a tale as old as time and one meant to be shared with the whole family.
