On behalf of the Rotary Club of New Albany, you are invited to enter our 2022 Four-Way Test Speech Contest. The competition will be held in the high school mini-theater on Wednesday, March 23, beginning at 3:30 pm.
The contest is open to all high school students, freshmen through seniors, from the following:
New Albany Plain Local Schools Home-schooled students within the area (The number of contestants is limited to 20. Enter early to ensure your participation.)
We are asking you to compose a speech applying the Rotary Four-Way Test to everyday relationships. This is the Rotary statement of principle, recited each week at the start of thousands of Rotary meetings around the world. The purpose of the speech is to resolve an ethical issue using the principles of the Four-Way Test. Each contestant chooses the topic of his/her speech with the subject being something from the speaker’s personal experience or general knowledge. Contestants identify a situation where they must decide to do or say something (or not do or say anything) and then use the Four-Way Test to develop their course of action, elaborating on each of the four questions as they relate to the situation. Be as creative as you want. A panel of judges will choose the winners – first, second, and third places. And, there are cash prizes!
Complete the registration form and return it on or before Friday, March 18. I look forward to hearing some inspiring speeches!
