NAHS Robotics Gain Global Experience at World Championships
The Digital Eagles competed at the 2019 FIRST Robotics Competition World Championships in Detroit April 24-27.
Although the team was not picked for an alliance in the quarter finals they performed brilliantly! Our team was placed in the Tesla division and squared off against teams from all over the U.S.A. as well as teams from China, Japan, Canada, Israel, Chile and Singapore.
The Digital Eagles ended up with a 6-4-0 record and were ranked 29 out of 68 of the best teams in the world in their division! They played against and out ranked some local teams, as well, including the WorBots (Worthington), the BearBots (Upper Arlington) and even the MetroBots (Metro High School).
The team was thrilled with its robot’s performance and had an amazing experience at the Championship. The teams at the Championship were the best teams from around the world so the competition was incredible. While the NAHS Digital Eagles did not win any awards, the students’ experience of seeing and talking to the best teams and attending conferences about STEM-related events really inspired them.
We could not be more proud of the team and their efforts this season. They handled themselves graciously and professionally and represented New Albany High School proudly.
Due to their tremendous record this season they have been invited to participate in the tri-state WOW Championship where they will face off against the 32 best teams in the Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio region. This one day event will take place on May 18th at Austintown Fitch High School in Austintown, Ohio. Go Digital Eagles!
