Juniors and Seniors in the Biomedical Science Medical Interventions class had an opportunity to learn from Aaron Westbrook as he demonstrated his prosthetic limb designs. Aaron, also a senior at NAHS, is designing assistive devices for individuals with limb differences made from recycled materials. He demonstrated how his devices are made using a 3D printing process and how he is making the raw materials from recycled coffee cups.
Medical Intervention students have been studying how to interface nerve and muscle impulses to generate signals on a computer screen. They will then be tasked with designing a simple prosthetic limb that can pick up a cup. Aaron did a masterful job of explaining his designs which are produced by his non-profit group Form 5 prosthetics.
