Season of Giving: MS & K1 Students & Staff Continue to Shine
Proud of the middle school student council and students! So far our students have donated over 1,000 canned/boxed food items for the student council food drive. All of the proceeds are going to the Village Coalition Against Hunger (VCAH) to help families here in New Albany.
On December 15, students and staff were packing up the food and more food trickled in the next day and will continue the days that follow. In addition to the food, a couple boxes of toiletry/personal hygiene items have been donated as well. It shows what a giving spirit our students have and when given the opportunity to help others they really come through! We couldn't be more proud.
Our K-1 students have also been collecting to contribute as well as others across the campus. Stay tuned for other updates from the K-1 & grades 2-5.
News and response from the VCAH
Executive Director Angela Douglas
The VCAH has received such an outpouring of support from NAPLS and all of these items will be immediately sorted and much of it used in baskets that will be packed on Thursday, Dec 17th, for delivery to NAPLS families on Friday, Dec 18th.
We deliver to 35 families (150+ individuals) every other Friday, and needless to say our grocery bill on delivery weeks tops $600. These donations will offset those costs considerably! THANK YOU for your tremendous support. Above is a picture of what one bay of my garage looks like tonight as we prepare to sort and pack... We are tremendously grateful, as are the families that we deliver to. A little goes a long way and your support makes an immediate impact on our community.
