The Board of Education held a regular meeting on November 15, 2021 at the NAPLS Annex. Featured presentations included an overview of the New Albany High School Program of Studies, Health and Safety protocols and future school year calendars now open for public comment (2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26).
The Board also adopted a resolution extending the mask mandate until winter recess (November 16, 2021-December 17, 2021) for all students attending and staff working in grades PK-6 while indoors at school. Masks remain voluntary for students and staff in grades 7-12.
Effective December 18, 2021, all students, families, faculty, staff, and community members may voluntarily wear masks when on New Albany-Plain Local Schools property unless otherwise ordered (e.g. federal order for school transportation through January 18, 2022 currently) or as Board adopted (see attached) and may practice social distancing and other prevention strategies, including proper hand washing, as self or parent directed.
No other changes to the health and safety protocols updated October 25, 2021 were made.
When ALL students return to school from winter recess on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, masks will be optional and self-directed unless otherwise ordered by local, state or governmental officials.
