The use of technology in classrooms is an integral part of learning and teaching in today's world. Effective technology integration is achieved when its use supports curricular goals. Students will experience rich and relevant learning environments when teachers are able to seamlessly incorporate technology into their daily lessons, and teachers will become more efficient by using technology to help them create, communicate, collaborate, and record and analyze data.

Effective technology integration:

utilizes digital tools ubiquitously to help students achieve the highest academic standards.
helps students and teachers communicate, collaborate and think critically about the academic content standards.
will allow teachers to create interactive and multimedia-rich learning environments to help address the individual needs of their students.
supports creativity and risk-taking to enhance learning and teaching.
gives students the knowledge to choose and apply the appropriate digital tools when completing projects that demonstrate mastery of content.
requires access to the most current technology tools.
requires shared beliefs when it comes to the practical, safe and ethical use of technology.

PowerSchool Instructions

Create a PowerSchool Parent Access Account

Step 1:	Click on the button above to begin
Step 2:	Click on the "Create Account" tab and then "Create Account" button. You will need the Access ID and Access Password for each of your children enrolled in New Albany-Plain Local Schools. These Access IDs will be used to link all your children to your new account. You can call the main office at your child's school if you lost or never received your Access ID.
Step 3:	Complete the information requested. You will create your own username and password. You will need to remember this account info because the school district will not be able to see it; we could only reset it if necessary. Use the Access ID and Access Password sent to you to complete this section. You should have received this information in a separate email for each child enrolled in New Albany-Plain Local Schools
Step 4:	Save your account information and then log in to the PowerSchool Site.
Step 5:	Download the PowerSchool App for iOS and Android devices. You will log in using your same account information you just created to have mobile access to PowerSchool and/ or receive notifications on your phone. This district code for the mobile app is PQRF.

Adding a Student to Your Existing PowerSchool Parent Account

Step 1:	Login to the PowerSchool Student and Parent Access Site.
Step 2:	Click on "Account Preferences"
Step 3:	Click on the "Students" tab.
Step 4:	Click on the "Add" button.
Step 5:	Enter the name, access ID and access password for the student you want to link to your existing account.

PowerSchool Forms Instructions

Step 1:	Login to the PowerSchool Student and Parent Access Site.
Step 2:	Click on "Forms" in the navigation pan along the left side of screen.
Step 3:	Click on one of the forms to view and/or edit is content. The status column will indicate if the form has been submitted or not.
Step 4:	Complete the form by entering the requested information. Not all the fields on the form are required.
Step 5:	Enter the PIN in order to submit the form data.	You will be required to enter a PIN in order to submit a completed form. The PIN will be sent to parents/guardians who are marked in PowerSchool as living with the student. All parents/guardians will be able to view the form data, but only parents marked as living with the student will be able to edit the form. Please contact the student's school if this information needs to be changed.
Step 6:	Navigate to additional forms by either using the “Forms” link along the left side, or by clicking on the tab above the form you are currently viewing.
Step 7:	Complete all the required forms listed in your account.

One-to-One Initiative

New Albany-Plain Local Schools recognizes that technology is embedded into most aspects of school, work and personal environments today, and that it is critical our students not only learn how to use technology effectively, but also how to balance face-to-face and digital interactions in their lives. Learning how to use technology to be more efficient and productive at school will benefit our students as they transition into post-secondary institutions and into the workforce.

In today’s schools, devices like tablets and computers should be viewed as essential tools in the same way as pens, pencils and paper. Using these new instructional tools is critical to student success, and our learning environment can be greatly enhanced by
effectively integrating them into daily instruction and assessment. New Albany-Plain Local Schools began a new journey in the 2018-2019 school year that will provide all students in grades PreK-12 with a device to be used to enhance their learning. We started our one-to-one (one device for every student) initiative in grades 4-6 and expanded it each year until we are completely one-to-one in grades PreK-12 during the 2022-2023 school year.
