Are You Ready?

1. Log in to PowerSchool, Complete Annual Forms & View Class Schedule

PowerSchool Instructions

On Friday, August 7, each custodial parent will receive an email for each enrolled student containing a unique PIN. This PIN is required to complete the annual online forms in PowerSchool, which must be submitted before the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

You will receive a separate PIN for each student you have enrolled in New Albany-Plain Local Schools.

Forms must be completed using the PowerSchool Student/Parent Access website — they cannot be submitted through the mobile app.

Parent and student access to PowerSchool begins August 7, 2026.

Power School Login

PowerSchool Forms Instructions

Step 1:	Login to the PowerSchool Student and Parent Access Site.
Step 2:	Click on "Forms" in the navigation pan along the left side of screen.
Step 3:	Click on one of the forms to view and/or edit is content. The status column will indicate if the form has been submitted or not.
Step 4:	Complete the form by entering the requested information. Not all the fields on the form are required.
Step 5:	Enter the PIN in order to submit the form data.	You will be required to enter a PIN in order to submit a completed form. The PIN will be sent to parents/guardians who are marked in PowerSchool as living with the student. All parents/guardians will be able to view the form data, but only parents marked as living with the student will be able to edit the form. Please contact the student's school if this information needs to be changed.
Step 6:	Navigate to additional forms by either using the “Forms” link along the left side, or by clicking on the tab above the form you are currently viewing.
Step 7:	Complete all the required forms listed in your account.

Create a PowerSchool Parent Access Account (New to District)

Step 1:	Click on the button above to begin
Step 2:	Click on the "Create Account" tab and then "Create Account" button. You will need the Access ID and Access Password for each of your children enrolled in New Albany-Plain Local Schools. These Access IDs will be used to link all your children to your new account. You can call the main office at your child's school if you lost or never received your Access ID.
Step 3:	Complete the information requested. You will create your own username and password. You will need to remember this account info because the school district will not be able to see it; we could only reset it if necessary. Use the Access ID and Access Password sent to you to complete this section. You should have received this information in a separate email for each child enrolled in New Albany-Plain Local Schools
Step 4:	Save your account information and then log in to the PowerSchool Site.
Step 5:	Download the PowerSchool App for iOS and Android devices. You will log in using your same account information you just created to have mobile access to PowerSchool and/ or receive notifications on your phone. This district code for the mobile app is PQRF.

Adding a Student to Your Existing PowerSchool Parent Account

Step 1:	Login to the PowerSchool Student and Parent Access Site.
Step 2:	Click on "Account Preferences"
Step 3:	Click on the "Students" tab.
Step 4:	Click on the "Add" button.
Step 5:	Enter the name, access ID and access password for the student you want to link to your existing account.

5. View Bus Transportation and Drop-off/Pick-up Information

Bus Route Information

Bus route information for the 2026-2027 school year will be viewable in the PowerSchool Parent Portal after August 11, 2026. This will include student bus numbers, pick-up and drop-off times and bus stop locations.

The centralized bus loop for the Middle School and High School is located in front of New Albany Intermediate School. It is accessible by traveling down Kardules Fields Way off Route 605. This serves all students grades 1-12. It is also the centralized spot for calculating the 2-mile driving distance to school for transportation eligibility for students enrolled in grades 6-12 as prescribed by the Ohio Department of Education. The loop is for bus traffic only from 7:45 AM to 9:35 AM and again from 2:20 PM to 3:55 PM.

Parent Drop-off & Pick Up

The parent drop off locations are the east side of the Middle School, accessible from Dublin Granville Road near the McCoy Center.

Enter the loop off Dublin Granville Rd. next to the McCoy Center, take the loop towards New Albany Primary School and follow it all the way around and past the Middle School (single file please) until you reach the sign where the first car is to stop.

Once stopped your student may safely exit the vehicle.

High School Drop off & Pick up (West Lot) LOT A

The parent drop off for the high school is off Fodor Road. A new extended drop off has been created.

Please enter the faculty lot to the right off Fodor Road. Travel the entire perimeter of the lot to circle through and arrive in front of the Gymnasium to where the first car will stop. You are not permitted to drive forward directly to the gymnasium.

Once stopped your student may safely exit the vehicle.
Please follow all signage directing parents to the appropriate traffic pattern and safe routes of entry.

Middle School Gymnasium & Cafeteria EXPRESS Loop - LOOP D

This is a continuously moving loop. It is designated for drop and go. Please make sure all students are ready to exit the vehicle with their belongings curbside adjacent to their buildings.

6. View School Supply List

NAHS is once again making it easy for families to buy school supplies through TeacherLists. With this tool, you can find your student’s class supply lists, choose your favorite store, and have your shopping cart filled with the right items automatically. You can also print the list or view it in different languages. Step-by-step instructions for each store are listed below. Using TeacherLists is optional — you can also use the printable supply list provided below.

TeacherLists makes it super easy to purchase all of the items on your supply list with just a few clicks. While you are looking at the individual class supply list, simply click on your retailer of choice icon in the top right hand corner of the list. When you click your preferred retailer, you will be brought directly to the retailer’s website with the items on your list ready to be added to your cart!

Simply return to the main supply list page and select another class to add those supplies to your cart.

Once you have all supplies in your cart for all your classes you can begin the check out process on the vendor's site. If you already have accounts for a vendor, make sure to login to simplify the process.

Below are FAQ's to help families if you have questions about using this tool.

How to use TeacherLists with listed vendor sites.

Amazon

Purchasing Supply List Items from Amazon:

If you would like to purchase the items from Amazon, simply click the Amazon button after you select your class list. The next screen you come to will list all the items that you can add to your cart on Amazon. Here, you can remove items that you would not like to purchase. You can also add some items that may be helpful for your student to have! Once you’ve made any desired changes, click the Amazon button.

Now, you will be brought to the Amazon page. Here you will see the items that are in stock and the cost for each item. Some items may be out of stock from the initial match, but may be available through other Amazon sellers—simply make a note to search for them again, and click the yellow Continue button at the bottom of the page.

Your items will now be in your shopping cart and you will be ready to search for any items that were not immediately matched (or other items your family may need) OR you can proceed directly to check out.

Target

At TeacherLists, all of our supply lists are linked directly to Target.com, making it easy for parents to find exactly what they need without ever having to print a list or make a trip to the store. To use Target to purchase your supplies, simply find your child’s class supply list, then click on the Target “Buy Now” button. You’ll be directed straight to Target.com where all of the products on your list are prepopulated right into your cart for fast and easy checkout. From there, you can shop for any unmatched products and edit as many items as you like.

Step-by-Step Process:

1. Select your class

2. When viewing your list, you’ll see our “Buy Now” buttons in the top right corner of the list. Click the Target icon to purchase your list on Target.com.

3. Select either “pick up at the store” or “ship to your address.” If you select “ship to your address,” you’ll be prompted to confirm the list you’re selecting and will then be brought directly to a page where you can either add all the items to your cart or edit the items before adding. It’s that easy! If you’re selecting “pick up in store,” follow the steps below.

4. Enter your zip code and select the Target store you’d like to pick up your supplies from, then click “next.”

5. Confirm that the information about your store, school, and list is correct.

6. You can now add all the items on your supply list to your cart or edit the items before adding them to your cart.

7. Any items that haven’t been matched are listed for you—you can continue shopping and/or edit items in your cart before checking out.

Walmart

If you would like to purchase items from Walmart, simply click the Walmart button. The next screen you come to will list all the items that you can add to your cart on Walmart.com. You can change the quantity of each item and then add all the items right to your cart!

Once you’ve added the items to your cart, you can either keep shopping for additional items or view your cart.

Staples

If you would like to purchase items from Staples, simply click the Staples button. The next screen you come to will list all the items that you can add to your cart on Staples.com. Here, you can remove items that you would not like to purchase. Once you’ve made any desired changes, simply scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click the red Add to Cart button.

10. Personal Communication Devices Policy

Dear New Albany-Plain Local Schools Families,

We want to inform you of the law passed by the Ohio Legislature as part of the last year's approved State Budget Bill (HB 96).

Students are prohibited from using personal communication devices (PCDs)—including cell phones, smartwatches, and other personal devices not issued by New Albany-Plain Local Schools—during the instructional school day, including class transitions and lunch/recess.

This law, enacted by the Ohio General Assembly, requires all public schools in Ohio to adopt policies that eliminate the use of personal electronic devices during instructional time. The goal of this legislation is to minimize distractions, enhance academic engagement, and support student well-being. In response, the NAPLS Board of Education has adopted Policy 5136: Personal Communication Devices.

What This Means for Our Students

Students at New Albany-Plain Local Schools are not permitted to use cell phones or other personal electronic communication devices during school hours, including class transitions and lunch.

Students may bring these devices to school, but they must be powered off and stored out of sight during the instructional day. Devices may only be used before or after school, at after-school events and activities, and on school transportation with the approval of an advisor, coach, or bus driver.

We understand that families may rely on mobile phones to stay in touch during the school day. Please rest assured that in the event of an emergency or urgent matter, parents and guardians can contact the school office directly. We remain committed to maintaining clear and open communication.

Implementation and Expectations

Over the coming weeks, our schools will:
• Communicate building-specific expectations and procedures with students and families.
• Provide guidance on where and how devices should be stored during the school day.
• Reinforce the appropriate use of technology for learning purposes.

Student handbooks have been updated to reflect this change in procedures and expectations. We encourage all families to review the updated information carefully.

We appreciate your support and partnership as we implement this new state mandate. Together, we can foster an environment focused on academic excellence, learning, and student well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions
Understanding Policy 5136, Personal Communication Devices (PCDs)

What types of devices are included in this policy?
- All public K–12 schools must adopt formal, written policies prohibiting student access to personal electronic devices (e.g. cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, e-readers, personal laptops, gaming devices) from the first bell to the last bell of the school day—covering all instructional and non‑instructional periods.
- Teachers or administrators may harvest exemptions for school‑issued devices used for educational purposes as authorized by school leadership.
What exactly does “turned off and stored out of site for the entire school day” mean?
- The school day begins when the first bell rings for arrival and ends when the last bell rings for dismissal. Devices may not be used during lunch, study hall, between classes etc.
- Principals will communicate where devices must be stored in their respective buildings.
- Devices stored during the school day must be powered off as stated. They may not be left on vibrate or silent mode.
Can students use PCDs for school-related purposes, such as checking assignments or using educational apps?
- This is not permitted. Only school-issued devices may be used.
Are there exceptions for students with medical needs or IEP/504 accommodations?
- Students that must monitor medical needs throughout the day may be approved to use a PCD with documentation from the medical provider specifically stating the necessity.
- Students whose IEP or 504 plans explicitly permit the use of PCDs for educational purposes may be approved to use them with supervision of the teacher.
Can PCDs be used on school buses?
- Yes this is permitted by the policy with the approval of the bus driver to and from school and coach/advisor for after school athletics and activities.
Will this policy apply to staff/teachers?
- No, the policy and legislation are specific to student use.
If my child wears an Apple Watch that is set to “Schooltime" mode so it cannot receive any notifications and only shows the time, can they wear it to school?
- No, per Board policy all PCDs, including smart watches, must be "stored out of sight." Principals will communicate the exact procedures for this in their respective buildings.

Enforcement and Consequences

How will the policy be enforced?
- The policy will be enforced through the student code of conduct as are all student discipline issues.
What are the consequences for violating the policy?
- Consequences for violations of the student code of conduct are outlined in the student handbook.
If a PCD is confiscated, how and when can it be retrieved?
- Principals will communicate the process for their respective buildings.
If a confiscated device is held in the office, will it be in a secure location?
- Yes, the device will be held in a secure location but the district cannot be responsible for property that is brought to school against Board policy and is damaged or stolen.
How can I reach my child during the school day if needed?
- Parents should call the main office to reach their child in case of an emergency or to deliver a message.
How will students contact parents in emergencies if they can’t use their phones?
- Students who need to contact parents should report to the office to request to call home.
- The district’s emergency management plan will provide procedures to be followed In the event of a school or district emergency. In addition, staff have access to PCDs and Centigex badges which alert administrators and police, depending on the type of emergency.
What is the goal of this new policy?
- The goal of this legislation is to minimize distractions, enhance academic engagement, and support student well-being.
How will the school measure whether the policy is working?
- The district does not have any choice in the requirements of the policy. The only local provisions are for consequences and use outside of the instructional day.

All students are required to have their picture taken, even if no photos are being purchased.

Picture Retakes are scheduled for September 24, 2026 from 7:30 am -11:00 am in the Wrestling Room.

12. Student Parking Permits

As a reminder, a student may not apply for a parking permit if their school account has outstanding school fees. Families can check the balance by visiting PaySchools Central. If you have questions about outstanding school fees, please contact Beth Johnston, at johnston.2@napls.us.

Students must submit their permit fee and a photo of their current valid student driver's license with the online application.

All outstanding school fees must be paid in order to apply for a parking permit.
The online application will require students to verify their PowerSchool ID; the verification list will not include any student with an outstanding school fee balance.
Families can pay outstanding fees by logging in to their PaySchools Central account and clicking on “fee payment”.
Please remember that obtaining a valid parking permit makes the student ineligible for bus transportation.

The General Parking application for sophomore and junior students will open on Monday, August 3, 2026. The application will only accept one entry per NAPLS student. Handwritten forms will not be accepted.

After submitting your application you will receive an automatic email. This is your confirmation that you have purchased a permit and should plan to pick it up from the high school E office.

* All outstanding school fees must be paid in order to apply for a parking permit.

Senior Parking Permit Application

The Senior lottery system application will open on Thursday, July 23 at 12 noon and will close on Thursday, July 30 at midnight.

All seniors will have an equal chance in the lottery to obtain a parking permit as long as they submit their application anytime within the stated window.

Please check the senior student's NAPLS email account in the afternoon on Thursday, July 23 for the online application and detailed instructions on completing the form. The email WILL ONLY be sent to the NAPLS email account. The application will only allow one entry per NAPLS student.

Remember, Seniors may apply anytime during the application period since it is by random lottery that parking spaces are assigned.

Seniors will receive an email notification with their assigned parking permit location on or before Monday, August 10, 2026.

Permit tags will be available for student pick up at the High School Kick-Off Day Event on, Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

The New Albany-Plain Local Schools’ Secondary (Grades 7-12) Curriculum is based on the Ohio Learning Standards . Ohio’s Learning Standards outline the skills and knowledge that will help students become ready for success in college, careers, and life. Learning standards identify what students should know and be able to do.

Curriculum Maps support the New Albany-Plain Local School District’s goal to provide a guaranteed and viable curriculum, which we believe is the foundation upon which all learning is built. The curriculum is guaranteed in that all students, regardless of their teacher, will have access to the same content, knowledge, and skills across the school. It is viable in that teachers have made intentional decisions to focus on essential content based on the standards, and have allowed for adequate instructional time to teach for mastery of the content. Individual growth and development and the achievement of specific learning outcomes are the goal.

NAPLS uses ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number that is listed in PowerSchool.
