The 2023-24 school year welcomes nearly 5,100 students and 700 faculty, staff and administrators to the New Albany - Plain Local Schools

learning campus.  Our clarity of purpose, “to create a culture of accountability that achieves the best academic and developmental outcomes for students”, remains as our daily commitment for all students.

“We are stronger together” by working tirelessly to put “Students First” as we work to foster an environment of “Kindness, Dignity, Respect”.  Ensuring students have access to high quality instruction from an outstanding teaching faculty paired with interventions and support to meet the learning needs of each student, we will continue to close learning gaps and enrich content for our students.

As we continue to actively listen and benefit from a high level of care and involvement, it is clear that there is a great deal of community pride for our students, staff, and schools.  While well earned, we accept the responsibility and accountability to continue to improve for our students.

Our community can help us fulfill our commitment to excellence.

We are working daily to build an inclusive campus culture where every student is safe, supported, and connected, where we treat everyone with kindness, dignity, and respect to foster a positive school environment for everyone.  We have the opportunity to demonstrate with our students that our actions and words matter and collectively we are, “One Team, One Family.”

The summer recess was a very busy time on our school campus. The fast pace of transitioning and filling personnel vacancies, curriculum work by teachers and administrators, and countless hours of cleaning, maintenance, capital repairs and replacements created quite the summer buzz necessary to be ready for another exciting school year.

In September, we will publicly report on our 2022-23 benchmark goals and data to establish our continuous improvement plan for the 2023-24 school year that will include accountability for academic learning and growth, well-being, finances, and our school culture.  We will continue to integrate the R Factor into our daily habits by actively practicing the six disciplines to influence the outcomes produced.  We will be deliberate in our actions to fulfill school culture goals grounded in kindness, dignity and respect.

Our Eagles are ready to soar during the 2023-24 school year!  Thank you for your partnership!  Together, we can and will meet the academic and developmental needs of our students.

Sincerely,

Michael L. Sawyers
