One cannot establish a residence merely by purchasing a house or apartment. It must be the place where important family activity takes place during significant parts of the day. (Ohio Revised Code 3313.64)
Two (2) forms of proof of residency are required to verify residency:
- One of the following:
- Signed Mortgage Deed or Apartment Lease. (Must list names of all occupants)
- Real Estate Tax Statement. One that has been mailed to the owner, not printed from the Auditor's site.
- Voter registration card. (Name/Address on card must match the name and address on the Auditor's website) A voter registration card is not an accepted proof of residence for Leases or Oath of Residency.
- A Gas or Electric ill (unpaid and current)
Special Circumstances
Application for Parents Enrolling Students Based Upon the Purchase of a House or Completion of Building a House Form
This form is to be completed by families when building or buying a home in the district that are waiting on possession and are non-residents. Families have ninety (90) days from the date of enrollment to establish residency. When the house process is complete (building or buying), you must provide two forms of proof of residency.
Families Residing with Relatives or Friends Form
This form is to be completed when families are residing with relatives or friends. The resident family must also provide two forms of proof of residency.
