Degrees and Certifications:
I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and my students love it when I say “eh!”I have a passion for teaching middle school kids, and I have always been drawn to kids who struggle. I believe that every child can learn, and that teaching is a shared mission. I am motivated to do the best for my students by maintaining a firm grasp of their individual needs, and by enacting the necessary accommodations for their successful learning. Despite this being my 14th year of teaching, I absolutely love to teach reading, so every year is an exciting fresh start.
I received my undergraduate degree from the The University of Toronto, and I did a double major in Political Science and Sociology. After graduation, I worked for IBM Canada for several years. When I moved to the United States, I could not work right away, so I volunteered at my children’s school and helped out with their reading program. I fell in love with teaching reading, and this began my path to starting a new career. I have a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Dayton. I am highly qualified in English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. I am currently working on getting my next level of certification of Orton- Gillingham.
I live in Westerville with my husband Rob, and we are the proud parents of two New Albany graduates. Both of my children went to The Ohio State University, and they now live and work outside of Ohio. Lucky for us, we still have our adorable labradoodle Teddy- who keeps us busy with daily walks to the park. Outside of school I love to read, ride my bike, golf, and travel. Another fun fact is that I am first generation Canadian, and I grew up speaking Italian and French.
