Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Plesser

Happy new school year!!  I hope that all of you had an excellent summer.  My name is Joe Plesser, and I will be your child’s second grade teacher.  I am eager to get to know you and your child, and I look forward to a great year.  We have many exciting events already planned!

I am beginning my fourteenth year of teaching at New Albany Primary  School, and I feel very fortunate to be in such a wonderful school system. This will be my second year teaching second grade, and I’m VERY excited to begin this journey with your students. Let’s just hope that we can make it all the way through this year! J

I attended The Ohio State University where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. I worked in the corporate environment for about six years before deciding what I really wanted to do was work with children. I received my teaching license from Ashland University in 2006, and my Masters of Education degree in 2012.

Teaching has been an absolute joy!!!  Watching the kids grow physically, mentally, and emotionally is such an eye-opening experience! Through volunteer programs, course work, and substitute teaching, I have also had the opportunity to work with students in kindergarten through fifth grade in the Gahanna-Jefferson, Olentangy, and Whitehall school districts.  Through all of these experiences, I have learned that students need to be recognized not only as a classroom of learners, but also as individual learners in order to succeed.

When I’m not educating your student, I live in Gahanna with my wife Lisa, and two of our three children, Kyndall, and Nikolas. We also have a daughter who is a Sergeant in the Marine Corps, and lives with her husband in Arizona. In my free time I love golfing with my son, remodeling our house, and reading (if I ever get the time J).

I can’t wait to get this year started and am looking forward to meeting my new classroom family! Have a great day, and I’ll see you soon!
