Welcome to first grade! I’m very excited about this year. I have many exciting things to share with you, and can’t wait for us to learn and grow together. Let me tell you a little about myself…
I have been teaching 1st Grade in the New Albany Plain Local District since 2007. I grew up in Canton, Ohio, and attended school in the Plain Local School District (Stark County). I was an Eagle too, and I love showing that pride here in New Albany!
I have an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Ohio University. I loved the experience and spent my four years participating in everything that would provide insight into children and how they learn. I completed my student teaching in a 2nd-grade classroom in Logan, Ohio. After graduation, I worked preparing preschoolers for kindergarten as a Master Teacher at the Ohio University Child Development Center. I also spent a year as a permanent substitute teacher in my hometown of Canton in the Plain Local District.
In 2013, I received my Master’s Degree in Special Education at Ashland University. I recently took off two years to raise children of my own. This was, perhaps, one of my greatest learning experiences. In 2020, I taught in a fully remote setting. This experience gave me the opportunity to grow as a teacher in ways that I never imagined. I am so excited to be back in a classroom for another year!
My many years in the New Albany Plain Local Schools have been very rewarding and I have learned so much about this amazing learning community. I have attended curriculum-based workshops, participated in educational summer programs, and have been invited to community gatherings in which I have gained knowledge about my love of teaching and learning. Also, through these exciting opportunities, I have come in contact with many wonderful families and colleagues that make my job so special. I can't wait to see what this year has in store!
I’m from a family of teachers, and education has been a calling and a priority in my life from very early on. I’ve made great efforts to achieve a wide diversity of experiences with children in order to become a better teacher. I love children and the families that support their learning, and I know that together we will have a great year.
