Ms. Anderson

Hello 6th graders, I am Trina Anderson, your CPM Math teacher. This will be my 7th year teaching in New Albany. I have a variety of educational experiences from several districts and across a number of grade levels. I began my career teaching 8th grade where I taught 4 levels of math each year. When I had my daughter, Elizabeth, I took a few years off to spend time with her before heading back to the classroom. I landed in several long-term positions, including K, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade. When I returned full-time, I took a position as a 2nd-grade teacher, then landed in New Albany in 4th grade. This year I am excited to move into 6th grade.

I attended Michigan State University where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences. After graduation, I worked as a General Manager in the service industry for several years. While I enjoyed my career, I knew that it was not something I would want to do long-term. I made the decision to return to school to pursue a degree in education. After several years, I earned my second degree in Teaching Elementary Mathematics and Education from Madonna University. I completed my coursework for a K-12 Reading Endorsement at Mount Vernon Nazarene.

When I am not in school, I stay very busy with my husband Ron, daughter Elizabeth, and standard poodle, Giselle. You will find me out, rain or shine, every afternoon walking her. Elizabeth, my 11th grader, is a smart, funny, and creative young lady. She is completing several of her service hours at NAIS so you could see her helping around the building. During the holidays and summer, all of us are on the go visiting family. Both sides live near the beach, one on Lake Huron in Michigan and the other on Hilton Head in South Carolina. Summer we head north, winter we head south, best of both worlds!
