My teaching career started at an early age when I loved playing school and imitating my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Ray. She was the model I aspired to be and still look back on fondly. She inspired me to study Elementary Education at Michigan State University and graduate with a bachelor's degree in 2003. I had two minors in Japanese and Anthropology. I went on to teach 5th grade in California in the San Jacinto Unified School District and then came back to Ohio where my husband is from. I have been at New Albany Plain Local Schools since the 2006-2007 school year and have taught 2nd grade and I am now on the Academic Intervention Team.
When I am not thinking about teaching I am chasing after my sweet and spunky children, Eliana and Colin, and spending time with my husband, Tim and yellow lab, Dorian. I love being at home and hanging out on our deck with family and friends. I also love seeing kids learn, grow and become confident, happy readers. I love reading and ultimately want to pass that love of reading on to my students but most importantly I want my students to feel loved and cared for when they are at school. Confident, happy and loved students are ready to learn and willing to take risks. My hope is that all of my students leave my office feeling loved and confident in their reading.
