Mrs. Durkop

Margaret Durkop is an alumna of Ohio University in Athens, OH. At Ohio University Margaret earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, she began her teaching career at New Albany Plain Local Schools.

Margaret taught first grade for ten years, during that time she went back to school earning a Master’s degree in reading from Ashland University. Margaret is currently serving in a dual role. She is an instructional coach at the Primary Building and a reading intervention specialist for students in grades one through three. This is her second year serving as an instructional coach and her tenth year as a reading intervention specialist. She also serves on the school district's Dyslexia Committee.

Margaret continues to pursue opportunities where she can learn and progress through professional development and coursework. She has completed an Orton Gillingham practicum in order to obtain her Associate certification. Margaret is passionate about making an impact and ensuring that each student gets the instruction they need.

Margaret and her husband Mitch have two children, Marissa and Miles. They also have two Boxer pups that have BIG personalities. Margaret is thankful for her supportive family and for the teaching roles she absolutely loves.
