Degrees and Certifications:
The 2021-202 school year marks my 22nd year teaching in New Albany. I spent the first 14 years as a third-grade teacher with a passion for literacy. I have spent the last 7 years working with students in grades as a reading intervention specialist. I love teaching literacy and watching children develop into readers and writers. It is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world!
I grew up in Westerville, Ohio and attended Ohio University for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. While teaching third grade I received a Master's Degree in Literacy from Ashland University. My husband and I reside in Westerville, along with our 6-year-old daughter, Kendall, and our puppy, Reesie. Kendall brings so much joy to our lives and already has such a happy little personality. She loves gymnastics, swimming, dance, cooking, and reading (of course). I am an avid Ohio State football fan and enjoy reading and spending time with my family and friends in those rare free moments. I also run a large local charity event called the Hunt for Hope each fall, which keeps me quite busy!
I have a passion and commitment to literacy instruction and believe that every child can become a successful reader. I truly want students to leave my classroom feeling more confident about their literacy skills, and I want them to have fun in the process! My goal is to create life-long readers. I am looking forward to a great school year!
