Degrees and Certifications:
The 2019-2020 school year marks my 20th year teaching in New Albany. I spent the first 14 years as a third grade teacher with a passion for literacy. I have spent the last 5 years working with students in grades 1-5 as a reading intervention specialist. I love teaching literacy and watching children develop into readers and writers. It is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world!
I grew up in Westerville, Ohio and attended Ohio University for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. While teaching third grade I received a Master's Degree in Literacy from Ashland University. My husband and I reside in Westerville, along with our 3 year old daughter, Kendall. She brings so much joy to our lives and already has such a happy little personality. She loves gymnastics, swimming, singing songs, and reading (of course). I am an avid Ohio State football fan and enjoy reading and spending time with my family and friends in those rare free moments. I also run a large local charity event called the Hunt for Hope each fall, which keeps me quite busy!
I have a passion and commitment to literacy instruction and believe that every child can become a successful reader. I truly want students to leave my classroom feeling more confident about their literacy skills, and I want them to have fun in the process! My goal is to create life-long readers. I am looking forward to a great school year!
