My love of teaching started all the way back to my childhood playing school with my brother at home. I knew at that age that I wanted to be a teacher and help others enjoy learning and love it as much as I did! Choosing an area of interest was a piece of cake for me. I am a math lover at heart and can’t get enough of it. The more math the better is my motto but it has to be FUN! I absolutely love making math engaging and interesting for my students so that they can see how helpful and amazing it can be!
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Childhood Education in Math and Reading from Bowling Green State University (Go Falcons!) in 2006 and went on to earn my Master’s in Education Degree in Middle School Math in 2009 from Walden University. I have also spent much professional development time learning and finding new ways to engage my students in my math classroom to help them relate to our math curriculum.
I started my teaching career in Reynoldsburg City Schools teaching 5th grade math and language arts for 3 years. I joined the New Albany Staff in 2009 and have been teaching 5th grade math here ever since! I have had so much fun teaching in New Albany and can’t wait to meet my newest class of 5th graders.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending my time at home with my family. I have 2 boys, 9 and 4, who both keep me on the go. We enjoy swimming, playing at parks, going for bike rides and eating ice cream! We love our summers together and being able to spend time relaxing before the next school year begins. I’m super excited for what this school year brings and can’t wait to meet my students!
