Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Cary Ballard. This is my 19h year teaching within New Albany Plain Local Schools. I have taught third and fifth grades previously, but joined the sixth grade team last year. I really enjoy this age group and the content covered in 6th grade.
I received both my master's and bachelor's degrees in education from The Ohio State University. My passion has always been language arts. I started my college career as a journalism major. After tutoring other college students within one of my college writing classes, I discovered my love of teaching and soon after switched majors. I was lucky enough to be hired by New Albany Schools during my last year of my Masters program. During the course of my time here, I have learned a lot about education and have made some lifelong friends.
When I am not wearing my "teacher hat" I am a mom and wife. My husband and I have been married for 15 years and we have two wonderful and creative children. Reese, who is also in 7th grade this year, plays the clarinet and just earned a spot on her school volleyball team this year. Ryan is in third grade and loves sports of all kinds and 80's pop-culture. This summer we enjoyed vacationing on Hilton Head Island and hanging out by the pool.
As a teacher, I love coming up with fun and innovative ways to introduce material. In my classroom, expect to use all modes of learning! I incorporate music, visual and artistic components within many of my daily lessons.
