Degrees and Certifications:
Who is Ms. Swick? I graduated from the University of Toledo in 2001 with a Bachelor of Education. I will begin my journey to obtain a Master of Education in Integrated Curriculum this fall.
I spent seven years teaching sixth and seventh grade language arts, in both rural and urban school districts, prior to taking time off to raise my children. I returned to the classroom full time last year, after serving as a district wide substitute for three years. Returning to a fourth grade classroom this year, while teaching math, social studies, and science, excites and inspires me. I am passionate about helping your children grow into independent and successful learners! I can easily say fourth grade is my FAVORITE grade to teach! Watching my students transform from shy and unsure third graders into confident and courageous fifth graders is truly an incredible part of their journey! A common theme found in my classroom is KINDNESS. I have very high expectations of my students in regard to their empathy and respectful treatment toward one another.
When I am not at school, I am a full time, single mom to two amazing kids! My son, Casey, is in eighth grade and an avid baseball player. My daughter, Riley, is in fifth grade and an avid dancer. Both are very active which, in turn, keeps me on my toes, or, at the very least, keeps me in the car! I enjoy watching and supporting my children pursue their passions and dreams. In addition, I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, and supporting my students within the community!
