Degrees and Certifications:
A little ditty about Mrs. Tirza Cameron. I earned a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Dakota in 1990 and a Master Degree in The Art of Teaching from Marygrove College in 2006. I am currently taking many courses to add an additional math supplemental to my license. This is my 24th year teaching overall and my 17th year with New Albany schools. I have focused my instruction in mathematics for the last 15 years, with this being my 3rd year teaching 6th grade. Previous years, I taught 5th grade.
I have been married to my husband, Don, for over 27 years, with three children (two girls and a boy), who have all graduated from New Albany Schools. Stephanie and Taylor are also Ohio State graduates, while Donnie is starting this fall at The Ohio State University. And… I can’t forget to mention my four-year-old Cairn Terrier, Tucker.
When I am not teaching: I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, running 5K/10k races, high-degree yoga, movies and jigsaw puzzles. I am a New Albany resident, so I may be seen frequently at the library, local restaurants, grocery store or other New Albany sponsored events.
I am so happy/lucky to be a person that can say, “I absolutely love my career... Teaching!” It can be very emotional at times, but so rewarding to work with a new batch of students each year; watching them grow, learn, and mature into young adults. Starting a new year is quite exciting; I look forward to this year being a great adventure in your child's learning!
