Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome back to the 2017-18 school year. I am looking forward to working with you and your child to have a successful year in the fourth grade. I will be teaching Writing, Spelling, and Reading coupled with selected units of Social Studies. Mr. Hast (204) will teach the Science, Math, and Social Studies.
This will be my sixteenth year in the New Albany School District. I bring with me many wonderful experiences and look forward to creating many more memories this year. I have taught grades third through eighth in self-contained classrooms and departmentalized classes in middle school. My experience spans public and parochial schools in Ohio and California, in both urban and suburban districts. In 1983, I earned my undergraduate degree from Ohio Dominican University, and graduate degree is in Educational Leadership and School Administration in 2004 from the University of Dayton. Currently, I serve on the NAPLS Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC) for teachers in grades 4 & 5, and on the Plain Local Education Association (PLEA) as a representative for grades 4-6. I was fortunate enough to represent our teaching staff in Boston this summer as a National Education Association (NEA) representative from New Albany.
On the first day of school I will celebrate my 32nd wedding anniversary with my husband Keenan! My hobbies are gardening, biking, singing in a German choir, photography, and travel. For ten years, I have been fortunate enough to combine two of my passions by traveling with People to People International as a Teacher Leader. I have taken groups of students in grades 5-12 from Ohio to Europe, Canada, and Australia. This wonderful program was founded by President Eisenhower in 1956. These experiences have enriched my life, influenced my teaching and helped me to continue my education with students outside of the classroom as we discover the many cultures around the world.
The role of an educator is one that is a partnership with the parent(s)and/or guardians. Communication plays a vital role in the success of your child’s education. Please do not hesitate to email or call with any concerns. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org and my phone number is 614-741-7000, you will need to leave a message and I will return your call after school. I am looking forward to an exciting year.
