Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to my portal! My name is Kim Lauer and this is my seventeenth year teaching in New Albany. I am an alumna of Ohio University. Go Bobcats! I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and my Master’s Degree in Reading at Ohio University. Upon graduation, I began my teaching career at New Albany Plain Local Schools.
During my career at New Albany, I taught second grade for sixteen years. This is my first year working as a Reading Intervention Specialist. I love reading and love to teach reading. While in the classroom, my favorite time of the day was spent at the reading table with small groups of students. As a child, I had wonderful teachers who instilled a life-long love of learning in me and it is my hope to be able to do the same for the children I teach.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes my husband, and two daughters. We love to travel, watch sports, and volunteer with New Albany’s Special Olympics Track Team.
