Degrees and Certifications:
Don’t blink! It is astounding to me that this year begins my 25th as an educator, and that I’ve been a proud New Albany Eagle since 1996! Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity and good fortune to teach students in elementary, middle, and high school, but third graders are my favorites! Third graders are ambitious, enthusiastic, and ready to try anything, and I’m looking forward to another year of learning right along with them!
In 1993, I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Indianapolis. UIndy is a private, liberal arts school with a highly respected teacher education program. In 2000, I earned my Masters of Education in Educational Policy and Leadership from The Ohio State University.
Within our school district, I greatly enjoy being involved in leadership and decision-making opportunities. One of my proudest roles is being a co-facilitator of our Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC). The LPDC has the important responsibility of reviewing coursework and professional development activities proposed and completed by educators to determine if state certification and licensure requirements have been met.
My personal life also keeps me quite busy! My husband and I are proud parents of a daughter and a son. Our daughter is a sixth grader and an avid golfer. Our son is a second grader who enjoys acquiring To-Shin Do belts. Our family also has a “furry kid”. We adopted Molly, a black lab mix, four years ago from the Franklin County Animal Shelter.
