My name is Victoria Losinski and I am excited to return to the high school where I’ll be teaching art foundations, ceramics, black and white film photography and one 6th grade art class. As some of you may know, I’ve spent the past two years teaching our youngest artists in the 2-8 building. Prior to that, I spent 11 years at New Albany Middle School teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade art.
During my tenure at the middle school, I was the art department chair and served on committees such as the anti-bullying, empty bowls, and a campus-wide diversity committee. I was also a member of the mentor/teacher program and supervised 5 student teachers. I started an after school mural club called Hero in the Hallway where students painted murals in the stairwells containing positive messages and imagery.
I believe that validation of student work is essential and during my time here I’ve displayed student work in art shows such as Founders Day, Picasso’s Palette, Peace Week and Scholastics. Community displays include The Phil Height Center, The Columbus Metropolitan Library, The New Albany Country Club, McCoy Preforming Arts Center and Barnes and Noble.
I have a BAE from The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, a Master’s Degree in Art from Carthage College, and an Elementary Education certification from the University of Toledo. I’ve taught art in Illinois, Colorado, and Ohio. I was also a 4th grade teacher in Illinois.
In my spare time I enjoy being with my family. My husband Pat is the CEO of the Columbus Metropolitan Library; our son John is a recent graduate of University of Kentucky and is currently working at Nationwide Financial; our daughter Abby will begin her senior year at the University of Wisconsin and is currently an intern at L Brands. I enjoy creating art in many different media, cooking, running and traveling.
