Finishing 28 years of teaching at New Albany has brought me great joy and also the ability to see great change in the community of students and staff. I have been teaching for 29 years and am proud to say I found my second home at NAMS.
My Bachelor's degree is in Education with a focus on K-8 Instruction. Since that time I obtained my Masters in Library and Information Science and served as the middle school librarian for 10 years. Missing teaching, lead me back to the classroom where I teach Language Arts and share my love of reading with my students.
I enjoy connecting students to content through outside interests and my interests are reading, gardening, cooking/baking, and also volleyball/sports. I have coached track, basketball, and volleyball at Groveport Madison, New Albany Middle School (and am currently both girls and boys), East Knox, and also Capital University for 26 of my 29 years in education.
My experience and love for young people is what keeps me motivated to teach. Seeing students learn and grow beginning wherever they are and reaching their highest potential both academically and emotionally is what I feel strongest about. Building a connection or relationship with the future generation is key to the success I see on my classroom and in extracurriculars.
