Welcome to 7th grade social studies!
My name is Sarah Hacker and this is my 21st year teaching seventh grade at New Albany Middle School. I received my Bachelor of Science degree at Ohio University in 2002 and also earned a Masters degree in Education in 2008. Professional growth as an educator is an important goal that I strive for each year through various coursework, professional development seminars, and national social studies conferences. I am very excited about getting to know all of you and the opportunity to work with students and families throughout the year.
The reason I became a social studies teacher is because I have always been interested in how past events tend to shape our lives today. Every element of our lives, hobbies, sports, and interests has a storied past that makes us and elements in our world what it is today and a part of WHO WE ARE! My challenge this year is to spark some interest in history and encourage students to view famous events throughout history with their OWN UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE!
New Albany is my home both professionally and personally and I take great pride in our community. I have two daughters, Allison and Zoey that bring so much joy and laughter to each day. I have coached Middle School cheerleading for 19 years and I hope to see you at the games cheering on the Eagles. My other hobbies include spending time with my family, trying new foods and restaurants, and traveling the world.
I am an EF international tour leader for NAMS and the experiences traveling to famous landmarks throughout Europe that I teach about has been life-changing and inspiring. I hope to encourage your passion to experience history through learning in the classroom and beyond the brick and mortar.
