Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
It is a pleasure to introduce myself to you as your math teacher (or as your child’s math teacher) for this school year. My name is Jeeyoung Gebhart. I will be teaching Honors Geometry and Honors Algebra II this school year. This is my thirteen year teaching and seventh year in New Albany schools. I have teaching experience in Algebra I, Honors Algebra I, Geometry, Honors Geometry, Algebra and Geometry Connections II, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and College Algebra. Most of my teaching career was in high school and this is my third year in New Albany Middle School.
I am originally from South Korea. My parents immigrated to the United States of America in 1999 with my two younger sisters and me. I am fluent in both English and Korean. Currently, all my family live within 45 minutes from each other. We make efforts to see each other at least once a month. I received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mathematics from The Ohio State University in 2004, and a Master’s Degree in Integrated Mathematics Education from The Ohio State University in 2005.
I have been married 12 years to my loving husband, Bryan and we live in Gahanna with our two daughters, Rebecca and Jessica. Rebecca is 11 years old and Jessica is 9 years old. When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family. Also, I enjoy singing at my church. There will be some math formula songs in our classroom and you are welcome to create or to find some great math songs we can sing together! Also, I love to learn. I find a great teacher in YouTube. Here is a few of things I learned by watching YouTube: how to make a homemade bread, how to french braid, how to make balloon flowers and swords, etc. I look forward to getting to know you and to taking a journey of challenging yet rewarding math learning experiences with you this year. Let’s make this year the best school year you have ever had!
