Welcome to Mr. Elsey’s classroom! I am starting my twentieth year of teaching, and my fifteenth year in New Albany Middle School. I have my Bachelor’s and Masters in Education from The Ohio State University. This year I will be teaching 8th Grade Mathematics and Pre-Algebra B.
I knew I wanted to be a teacher in 6th grade when I was able to help the Kindergartner’s learn the values of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. It was great to see their faces once they realized they understood the value of each coin. I fell in love with the middle level students from my very first field placement in college.
Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and friends. My wife Nicole is a pediatric anesthesiologist at Children’s Hospital and an amazing mom. During the summer I was lucky enough to spend time with my son Aiden, and daughter Olivia. I also work construction jobs for colleagues during the summer. I will miss lounging by the pool with my family. Looking forward to having a great year.
