Miss Arace

Bonjour! My name is Abby Arace and I am the French 1A and 1B teacher at New Albany Middle School. I am so excited to be a part of this community of learners, and I can’t wait to begin or continue your student’s journey through learning a new language and engaging with the francophone world!

Starting my language learning in middle school changed the course of my life! As soon as I started learning French in seventh grade, I was enthralled with the way the words sounded, the challenge of putting together phrases and sentences in new ways, and the rich culture that I was beginning to explore - and that was back in 2007! Today, I am just as excited about helping your student open their eyes to new words and new worlds.

As far as my background goes, I grew up in Bexley, Ohio with my seven siblings. I attended Kenyon College from 2012-2016 where I obtained my B.A. in French and history. I was also a cross country and track athlete at Kenyon, and I studied abroad in Paris, France during the spring of 2015. I attended Ohio State University for my Masters in Education, which I completed in 2019. I taught high school French I - IV at Wilmington High School from 2019 - 2023.

When I’m not teaching, I like to walk around German Village (my neighborhood!), run, read, cook, and play the violin.
