Hello, my name is Kim Pulvino and I am an Intervention Specialist at New Albany High School! I completed both my Undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Nazareth College in Pittsford, NY.
Before starting my family, I taught for 8 years as a Reading and Intervention Specialist for 3rd - 5th graders, in Upstate NY. While I took time off to raise my two daughters, I worked part time for Dreams on Horseback. Dreams is a not-for-profit organization that works with children and adults with physical and cognitive challenges. I worked to develop and foster their school age Equine facilitated learning programs. I then went on to a role as a long term substitute in New Albany, at both the Primary and Intermediate buildings, as an Intervention Specialist in grades 2-4. After completing my long-term substitute positions, I was hired as an Intervention Specialist at the New Albany Primary building. Sadly, that year was cut short due to COVID-19, and having to teach online. The following year I taught exclusively online, for the 8th VLP or virtual learning platform. It was during that year that I realized how much I enjoyed working with older students. In 2020, I transitioned to the High School and have truly enjoyed my time as an Intervention Specialist, working in the English language Arts classrooms,
I am extremely passionate about teaching! As an educator I love to be creative with my lessons plans; giving my students multiple ways to learn, such as with hands-on activities. I enjoy making connections with my students and building positive relationships, in which they feel comfortable taking risks to grow as individuals with their own learning.
Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband and I have two daughters, Libby (15) and Georgia (12), both who attend New Albany-Plain Local Schools. They are both involved with tennis and field hockey at New Albany. We also have a large extension to our family, with our beloved animals, consisting of three dogs, 2 horses and a cat. We spend a lot of time at horse shows and we all enjoy going for bike rides, walking the dogs, swimming at the pool, trying new restaurants and traveling to new places.
I look forward to meeting all of you and to seeing you around New Albany!
