My name is Amy Neiwirth (pronounced NYE-werth), and I joined the New Albany Intermediate School team in August 2021 teaching 4th and 5th grade art. I previously taught K-12 visual art at Columbus Torah Academy from 2006-2021 and middle school art in a long-term sub role with Columbus City Schools in 2006.
I earned both my BFA (Painting & Drawing) and MA (Art Education) from The Ohio State University. I am a member of the Ohio Art Education Association and am proud to be a recipient of a 2023 "Outstanding Art Teacher" award for the organization's central region. I also serve on OAEA's Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion committee.
In the spring of 2019, I participated in the Ohio Visual Art Standards Revision working group to help re-imagine and update the state's visual art standards.
I enjoy art (of course!) cooking, crafts, cats, and attempting to be a plant lady. My husband and I live in the Olde Towne East/Franklin Park area of Columbus.
I love working with our awesome team of educators at NAIS and I'm excited to continue sharing my love of art with the students and the school community!
