Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Amy Neiwirth (pronounced NYE-werth), and I am so excited to be coming aboard as a 4th & 5th grade art teacher at New Albany Intermediate School. I am joining NAPLS from Columbus Torah Academy, an independent Jewish day school, where I spent the past 15 years teaching K-12 visual art. In addition to teaching, I served as Program Coordinator for our school’s Resident Educators and was a member of our LPDC. Before arriving at CTA, I taught art in a long-term subbing role at an ESL middle school with Columbus City Schools.
I earned both my BFA (Painting & Drawing, 2003) and MA (Art Education, 2008) from The Ohio State University. I am a member of the Ohio Art Education Association and served on the Ohio Visual Art Standards Revision working group in the spring of 2019. I am active in the local Columbus arts community and sell my handmade polymer clay jewelry at festivals, craft shows, and boutiques under the brand Sweet Stella Designs (voted “Best Brand Without a Storefront” in the 2012 Columbus Alive readers’ poll!). I also proudly serve as the artist-in-residence at Camp Ramah in the Poconos in Lakewood, PA for several weeks each summer.
I enjoy cooking, painting, crafts, cats, and attempting to be a plant lady. My husband and I live in the Olde Towne East/Franklin Park area of Columbus. I am thrilled to be joining the awesome team of educators at NAIS and New Albany Plain-Local Schools as a whole. I can’t wait to share my love of art with the students and the school community!
