Mrs. Pecikonis

This is my first year teaching at New Albany High School and it is my privilege to be here! I am overjoyed to be joining this community. This school year (2020-2021) will be my seventh year of teaching. I spent my first six years teaching at Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. I taught a variety of mathematics courses at Sycamore. I got married this past summer and moved to Columbus to start life in the same city as my husband! I will be teaching Algebra II as well as Honors Algebra II this year. I will also be teaching a Senior Seminar course in addition to teaching in Noble Academy each day. If you are my student or a parent of one of my students, I couldn't be more excited to meet you!

I grew up in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Cincinnati for college at Xavier University. I studied mathematics and professional education at Xavier and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics in 2018 at Miami University. I love reading, hiking, and catching up with friends over coffee in my free time. I grew up as a dancer and was a member of Xavier University's dance team. I love to keep growing in every aspect of my life!

A small part of me always considered becoming a teacher. As I continued in my math courses, the desire only grew. I love how math is beautifully connected and there is always more of it to discover; looking at concepts from various angles only takes us deeper in understanding! I enjoy helping students discover how intricate their brains are when difficult concepts seem to click. High school was such a pivotal season of my life and it is my joy to get to walk through these years with my students now. So much more than the math content, my greatest joy in my work is my students. I'm looking forward to the games, musical performances and any other opportunities I get to watch you do what you love. You will be valued, respected, supported, and celebrated in my classroom. Despite these difficult times, I am confident we will have a wonderful year together!
