My name is Brooke Shackelford. This is my 24th year as an educator and my 12th year in New Albany. My first passion is teaching. I grew up in Westerville and graduated from Otterbein College (before the name was changed to Otterbein University!) with a degree in Elementary Education. I continued on to earn my Master’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University in Teaching and Learning. Fourteen years ago I decided to go back to school to earn my certification to be a school librarian from Kent State University.
Being a librarian became my second passion. I'm lucky enough to have two passions in education! In the past, I have been the advisor for the NAMS Book Club and NAMS Drama Club. I also have been a leader for the group People to People, chaperoning students on educational trips to Europe. I volunteered for the Ohio Wildlife Center as a wildlife rehabilitator for 12 years and have been active in community theatre with various groups in the Central Ohio area. My family loves to hike, kayak, camp and be outdoors. I live in Worthington with my husband and two boys. Owen is nine, and Benjamin is six.
