Welcome! This is my 5th year teaching at New Albany High School. Helping students find their passion and create goals for their future is what really gets me excited about teaching each day.
The courses I have taught at the high school include Honors Biology, Physical Science, Honors Biology with Biomedical Science and Marine Biology. I have taken students to the Bahamas for a Marine Biology field studies trip and plan to again in the summer of 2024. I am also one of the ski club advisors for the high school.
I received my bachelors degree in biology from The Ohio State University and worked at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in their education department which is where I learned that I had a passion for connecting students to the natural world around them. I then returned to Ohio State to earn a Master of Education degree.
Students in my classroom can expect to be challenged to think about science in new ways and go outside of their comfort zones in trying new things. Students will also find a welcoming environment where all ideas are valued and appreciated. I encourage open communication in my classroom and building relationships and getting to know my students is one of my favorite aspects of teaching.
In my free time I spend as much time outside as possible with my husband, Grant. My family is everything to me and whether we are outside hiking or boating, I am always happiest when I am making memories with them.
