Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Shidaker

I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2011 as a double major, with a Bachelor's of Science in Secondary Integrated Language Arts Education and a Bachelor's of Art in English Literature. I also earned a Master of Arts in Special Education: Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist from The Ohio State University in 2016.

Prior to teaching at NAHS, I spent five years teaching English 9 and English 10 at Licking Heights High School along with exciting electives: Children's Literature, Creative Writing, and Young Adult Literature. While there, I was awarded Teacher of the Year 2014-2015 by the Licking Heights Education Association. Prior to my time at LHHS, I taught English for grades 9-12 at an inner-city charter school on the east side of Columbus, and I was a long-term substitute for a year at The Ohio State School for the Blind working with students of all ages, grades, and disabilities.

My goal at New Albany High School is to help my students discover a love for both literature and learning. Through this discovery process, I hope they are able to find a passion they can turn into a career that they love as much as I love teaching. Go Eagles!
