On Aug. 31, 2026, New Albany High School celebrated an exciting milestone with the Beam Signing Ceremony for our new Technology Hub!

The iconic former “H” building and high school library is being transformed into a state-of-the-art space where students will explore cybersecurity, robotics, computer science, media arts and more.

Today’s signatures represent our excitement for what’s ahead — new opportunities, innovative learning and a bright future for our Eagles!

Welcome & Opening

Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome!

My name is Rob Russell, principal at New Albany High School, and I want to thank you for joining us for this exciting milestone in the transformation of one of the most recognizable buildings on our learning campus, the iconic “H” building.

Our purpose at New Albany-Plain Local Schools, is to create a culture of accountability that achieves the best academic and developmental outcomes for each student. That purpose is impossible to achieve without the collaboration of our students, families, staff, and community.

Our collective focus on achieving the best outcomes has created an opportunity for us to plan for and build the future. This transformation would not be happening without your support. 

To our community members, thank you for believing in our district, and investing in state-of-the-art spaces that will serve future generations of students.

To our dedicated staff, thank you. Your flexibility, focus, and  logistical support throughout this process have kept this high school moving forward through construction.

To our students, thank you for your patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm as we build this space for you. You are the heart of this project, and your passion for learning and future possibility is why we are here.

For many years, the building behind me has been part of the story of New Albany. At one time, it served as our community library, a place where people came to learn, explore and discover something new.

Today, we are writing the next chapter in that story.

The “H” building is being transformed into a state-of-the-art Technology Hub. This space will bring together innovative programming in areas including cybersecurity, computer science, media arts and more.

What makes today particularly exciting is that we are not only renovating a building. We are creating a new environment for students to explore their interests, collaborate, solve problems and develop skills that will prepare them for opportunities well beyond New Albany High School.

A project of this magnitude requires tremendous collaboration, planning and expertise. We are grateful for everyone who has helped bring this vision to life.

When we talk about the future of education, we know that our responsibility extends beyond preparing students for the world as it exists today. We must also prepare them for a future that continues to change, evolve and present opportunities we cannot yet fully imagine.

That's what makes this Technology Hub so exciting.

This will be a place where students can create, collaborate, experiment, problem-solve and innovate. Whether they are exploring cybersecurity, designing and programming a robot, developing skills in computer science, producing digital media or discovering an interest we haven't even considered yet, this facility will provide opportunities for our students to turn curiosity into experience.

We are honoring its history while building for the future.

And ultimately, that is what this project represents: an investment in our students, their potential and the innovative programming that will help them discover where their talents can take them.

The future is bright at New Albany-Plain Local Schools and we can't wait to open the doors to this incredible new space in February 2027.

Today, however, we have an important milestone to celebrate together.
