Community Partnerships

New Albany - Plain Local Schools is grateful for amazing partner opportunities with a number of community organizations including business, civic, non-profit and more. These partnerships provide a variety of opportunities to our students and staff throughout the district each school year.

The Foundation was formed in 1994 by a group of forward-thinking community leaders who wanted to create a public, not-for-profit organization that would advance the aspirations of the community in perpetuity. A registered 501(c)(3) organization, the Foundation is a component fund of the Columbus Foundation.

The Foundation Board of Trustees has adopted five strategic areas of impact:

Our New Albany Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library at Market Square is a widely used community resource. In addition to the collections it provides the community, the library also offers homework help centers and preschool story programs for community residents.

The mission of Healthy New Albany is to promote a culture of health and wellness for those who live and work as well as attend school in the community. The purpose of Healthy New Albany is to promote a healthy lifestyle for those who live and work in New Albany. Through the implementation, coordination and evaluation of planned strategies, a culture of wellness will be developed and valued as an integral component of a vibrant New Albany community.

Operated by New Albany-Plain Local Joint Park District, NA Parks annually serves the 5300 families residing within the New Albany-Plain Local School District, the Village of New Albany, and Plain Township.

Consisting of more than 200 acres of parkland, the park district offers 38 baseball, football, soccer, and lacrosse fields. Complexes at Bevelhymer Park and Thompson Park provide seven tennis courts and one basketball court, walking trails, playgrounds, pavilions, and concession stands. The Wexner Community Park, available for family gatherings as well as community events, offers a pavilion with fireplace, warming kitchen, restrooms, and adjacent playground and lawn space.

The New Albany Women’s Network (NAWN) was established in 1998 in an effort to bring women together throughout New Albany. The founding members created the network to share information and resources, build friendships and help create a strong community.

Located just northeast of Columbus, Ohio in Franklin County, Plain Township is home to nearly 10,000 residents including the City of New Albany. Originally settled in 1810, Plain Township today is home to rolling farm fields, thriving businesses, quiet neighborhoods, great parks and excellent schools.

The Township is governed by three elected Trustees who oversee all township functions and services. The Township Administrator, who is selected by the Trustees, oversees the day to day business of the township government. The Township Fiscal Officer is responsible for all township accounts and transactions.

The McCoy Center, which was made possible through a partnership between the New Albany Community Foundation, Village of New Albany, Plain Township and the New Albany-Plain Local School District, has also developed unique partnerships with many organizations outside of New Albany. In the past year alone, Columbus Children’s Theatre, Columbus City Schools, The King Arts Complex, Storytellers of Central Ohio, TransitArts and WOSU have all enriched New Albany through partnerships and enhanced or benefited from programming presented at the McCoy Center.

As the anchor to the New Albany Learning Community campus, the McCoy Center will continue to serve New Albany students, providing an exciting environment in which to explore and learn from the arts, accentuated by exposure to professional artists whose appearance has been funded by the many generous corporate and individual sponsors from our community.

The New Albany Chamber of Commerce has 450 members representing the wide spectrum of businesses and civic groups that enjoy serving the New Albany, Ohio community. Officially formed in 1996, this is one of Central Ohio’s fastest growing Chambers of Commerce. Located in the Northeast quadrant of Franklin County, New Albany is adjacent to the State Capital, Columbus, Ohio and fifteen minutes from the International Airport (CMH). This planned community soared to national attention due to the extensive high quality development in residential neighborhoods and corporate business campus.

New Albany Special Connections is a nonprofit organization founded in 2002 dedicated to serving the population of children with special education needs from preschool through high school and their families within the New Albany – Plain Local School District. New Albany Special Connections continually strives to build positive, productive and collaborative partnerships among families, educators and the greater New Albany community.

The New Albany Symphony is a community orchestra bringing professional, adult and student musicians together for a concert series at the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts in New Albany. In addition to its 4-concert season at the McCoy, NASO provides opportunities for the students and community of New Albany and its surrounding areas to deepen its appreciation for the arts through educational outreach with guest artists, and collaborations with area arts organizations.

Founded in 1837, New Albany truly came to life in the last two decades as a result of the passion and ingenuity of individuals who believe it’s not just where we live, but how we live that defines our quality of life.
