Common Application Jumpstart

Introduction & Common Application Coaching Workshop for Rising Seniors

Time: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Cost: No fee for this workshop
Prerequisite: Must be a rising senior (Class of 2025)

This program, presented by NAHS School & College Counselors, will introduce rising seniors to the Common Application. This will be a free hands-on workshop with the goal of helping students get started early in the summer with their application, and set goals for the remainder of the summer with hopes of having much of the work completed before school starts in the fall. After participating in the workshop, students should have initial portions of the application complete with instructions on finishing the remaining parts. 

During the 3 hour workshop, students will: 

  • Set up a Common Application account 
  • Review college application features within SchooLinks 
  • Review how to Link the Common Application to SchooLinks
    • Complete the following sections of the Common Application: 
    • Contacts

    • Demographics

    • Geography 

    • Parent and/or Guardian 

    • Siblings

    • School

    • History 

    • College Entrance

    • Self-Reported Transcript 

  • Have a plan to complete these sections of the Common Application: 
    • Academic Information 

    • Academic Subjects 

    • Other 

    • Principle Activities/Work 

    • Personal Essay 

    • Disciplinary History 

    • Additional Information 

    • General -College-Specific Questions 

    • Academics -College Specific Questions 

    • College Writing Supplements Students 

Students Should Bring: 

  •  Laptop or Tablet - we will have some Chromebooks for students to use
  •  ACT & College Board Scores and/or log-in credentials
