Assessments at NAPLS
In order to monitor student achievement and growth, a variety of assessments, including classroom, grade-level/departmental, state and national, are administered throughout the year to measures student progress toward meeting end of the year mastery of skills or content. These assessments help teachers and instructional leaders to provide the necessary supports to each student.

Mr. Greg Taylor
Director of Assessment & Accountability
Grades K-12
Mr. Gregory Taylor joined the New Albany-Plain Local Schools Leadership Team in August 2024. as the Director of Assessment & Accountability.
Mr. Taylor previously served as the Director of the Office of Research, Evaluation and Advanced Analytics at the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW). Prior to relocating to Central Ohio and joining ODEW, he served the Dayton Public Schools as an intervention specialist and various central office positions, exiting as the Executive Director of Data and Technology where he oversaw assessment, accountability, data reporting and analysis, research and evaluation, IT, and Educational Technology. Mr. Taylor has served on various local, state, and federal committees, advisory panels, and governing boards on topics including special education, assessment, measurement and statistics, data usage, and accountability.
“Greg’s extensive background and demonstrated successful experience defining, driving and overseeing analyses will strengthen our strategic use of data to increase student outcomes. In addition to coordinating and leading assessments within our school district, Greg will collect data, develop statistical models and apply statistical theories and methods to partner with other administrators and teachers to identify strengths and opportunities to best meet the needs of our students and school district alike,” said Superintendent Michael Sawyers.
Mr. Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science degree in special education from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Education with a focus on education policy and program evaluation from Harvard University. Mr. Taylor has presented research at numerous national conferences and has had his work published in peer-reviewed journals. His personal interests include cooking, watching sports, and spending time with his wife, Caitlin, a teacher at Worthington Kilbourne High School and their infant son Jack.
Mr. Taylor stated, “I am extremely excited to join the team at New Albany-Plain Local Schools and I will work hard to create a culture of accountability that achieves the best academic and developmental outcomes for each student. Go Eagles!”
