Mrs. Katie Nowak Director of Assessment & Accountability Grades K-12
Mrs. Nowak brings 18 years of experience in education to our district, serving as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Mrs. Nowak previously served as an administrator at both the elementary and secondary levels in the South Western City School District. Mrs. Nowak joined the New Albany-Plain Local Schools in 2016 as a building principal at the Intermediate School.
Mrs. Nowak was recognized in 2016 as Ohio’s National Distinguished Principal for Middle Level Education by the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators. She has served on local and state level committees, presented at State and National conferences, and has created professional development through her work with OAESA. Mrs. Nowak was recently elected in January to serve as the 2022-2023 President Elect of the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators, serving PreK-8 administrators from across the state through networking, professional development, and passionately advocating for public education.
In addition to her teaching and principal licensures, Mrs. Nowak holds a Master of Arts in School Administration from The Ohio State University, a Master of Education in Curriculum & Teaching and a Bachelor of Science in Education, both from Bowling Green State University. Mrs. Nowak earned her superintendent license in 2018 from Concordia University of Chicago, and is currently working on her doctorate degree. She resides in Hilliard with her husband Brent, and her two sons, Mason and Matthew.
Assessment Information
In order to monitor student achievement and growth, a variety of assessments, including classroom, grade-level/departmental, state and national, are administered throughout the year to measures student progress toward meeting end of the year mastery of skills or content. These assessments help teachers and instructional leaders to provide the necessary supports to each student.
