Learn about the curriculum at NAPS
Ohio’s Elementary School Learning Standards
Ohio provides learning standards for elementary students to explain the knowledge and skills Ohio students are expected to have.
In New Albany’s elementary schools, our classroom teachers address the state’s learning standards for English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
View Ohio's Learning Standards by Grade Level.
Our team of specialists address standards in Art, Music, Physical Education, and Technology. Instrumental music becomes a course option in sixth grade. For more information about sixth grade music classes, click here.
Our classroom teachers, in partnership with volunteers from organizations such as Junior Achievement, address the Financial Literacy standards.
The Ohio standards for Drama, Dance, and World Languages are not part of our core elementary curriculum, but may be addressed as part of special enrichment programming. Those standards are included in these documents for your reference.
To help clarify the expectations of Ohio’s Learning Standards for New Albany’s elementary students, New Albany elementary teachers created Learning Targets for each standard. These Learning Targets are also referred to as “I Can Statements”, since they are written in a manner to help students explain what they can do after a lesson. View the elementary school Learning Targets for English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies here.
Visit the Elementary Curriculum Maps page for detailed information concerning each subject area. In addition to contacting your child’s teacher, your student’s school principal and Director of Elementary Education Scott Emery are available to answer any questions about our academic program.

Know where can I drop off and pick up my student
Parents who drop off or pick up children for school should plan to arrive in time to drop off or collect students at your building’s designated time
Arrival/Morning Entrance begins at 9:05 a.m.Tardy Bell - 9:15 a.m.
Dismissal for parent pickup is at 3:40 p.m.
Bus dismissal is at 3:45 p.m.
We ask all drivers to please pull up as far as possible in the waiting lines to allow for the children to be dropped-off and picked-up in the most efficient way possible. A tall sign marked with the New Albany logo is at the furthest most point of our loops to designate the initial drop off/pick up point.
To ensure the safety of all students, please observe the following:-
Remain in your vehicle.
-
Children must leave/enter your vehicle on the curb side only.
-
Patiently wait in line – our goal is to always have our children arrive and leave school in the safest way possible.
-
If your child is already with you, please remain in line to await your turn to leave the pick-up/drop-off circle.
-
If you need to meet your child personally at the building, please park your car in the appropriate lot. For the Primary School, that is the lot between the McCoy Center and the Middle School.
Parents that park to pick up their child, should use caution as they cross the loop at the designated crosswalk.
PLEASE NOTE: Traffic in all loops must continue to flow. Cars may stop just long enough to safely load or unload children. To prevent accidents, only one lane or line of cars is permitted. Please exercise patience and courtesy to keep our students safe.
PRIMARY SCHOOL SOUTH/MCCOY CENTER LOOP - Grades 1-3
Entrance to the south loop is accessed from Dublin-Granville Road for Primary School students in the blue, purple hallways. Parents may not park in the loop. The McCoy Loop is one way. You must exit the loop onto Dublin-Granville Road by turning right on the MS side of the loop. It is not permitted to go against traffic and exit out of the entrance on the McCoy side.
PRIMARY SCHOOL EAST/MAIN ENTRANCE LOOP - Grades 1-3
Entrance to the east loop is accessed from Route 605 for Primary yellow hallway students. Parents may not park in this loop. All children should embark or disembark curbside only for safety. Parents who need to enter the building must locate a parking space in the visitor parking spaces.
DAYCARE BUS LOOP - Grades 1-3
Entrance for Primary and Intermediate Daycare buses is accessed from 605 by turning west into the entrance located at the Chatham Green Drive traffic light. All children should embark or disembark curbside only for safety.
