Ms. Polder

Hello!  I am truly delighted to be your child’s first grade teacher!  I can’t wait to meet all my new students and get the year started.

I completed my undergraduate studies at Miami University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  Additionally, I completed my Master’s Degree in Effective Teaching for the 21st Century through Marygrove College. After graduating college in 2016, I started teaching kindergarten at Whittier Primary in Findlay, Ohio.  This is the same elementary school that I attended as a child! I joined New Albany’s first grade team in 2018, and have been here ever since!

As an educator, I love to be creative and construct memorable, hands-on learning experiences for students.  I am inspired by the Benjamin Franklin quote. “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”  By engaging my students in hands-on learning experiences coupled with creative lesson plans, I believe I can draw out students’ natural desire to learn!

Beyond the classroom, I enjoy crafting, spending time at the lake in Michigan with family (although I am a true Buckeye fan), and walking my golden retriever dog, Cannoli.

I am very excited to begin the new school year and I look forward to meeting and working with both you and your child!
